Press Release

DR. NANCY SNYDERMAN NOW SEEN DAILY ON MSNBC AT NOON

NEW YORK, July 2, 2009—Consumers now have greater access to the insightful health guidance and commentary of respected surgeon and medical journalist, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, chief medical editor at NBC News. Launched on June 29, “Dr. Nancy” brings clarity to breaking health news and provides in-depth analysis on health policy issues affecting the nation and the world every day at Noon EST on MSNBC.

“Dr. Nancy” provides the public another valuable opportunity to access the enlightening advice and counsel of Dr. Snyderman,” said Elizabeth Browning BeWell.com CEO. Consumers can also find Dr. Nancy’s perspective on health on BeWell.com—the new social networking site co-founded by Dr. Snyderman and Dr. Susan Love—in addition to those of other well known, evidence-based health experts personally vetted and selected by Dr. Snyderman and a team of her peers. “These experts are the doctors we would turn to for advice,” said Dr. Snyderman.

Launched as a beta site in December 2008, BeWell features timely, thought-provoking health news and information, and offers the experts’ counsel to help consumers understand key issues and medical conditions while stimulating discussion. Unlike many health sites offering generic health content, BeWell is unique because it gives women easy access to this group of exceptional health experts, and the ability to engage other consumers in online conversations around health.

“At a time when there is an overwhelming amount of medical and health information available online, there is an absence of guidance in how to interpret it,” said Dr. Susan Love, researcher, surgeon, author of the best-selling “Dr. Susan Love’s Breast Book,” and co-founder of BeWell. “BeWell fosters a sense of community among its members while elevating the level of medical discussion due to the respected and trustworthy experts who help guide the conversations.”

“We believe BeWell is a timely resource for consumers because it offers a variety of tools to help them not only improve their health knowledge, but also share stories and concerns. Our goal is to help consumers become better informed about their health, and in turn more confident in communicating effectively with their healthcare providers,” said Dr. Snyderman.
